Revesrse 'picture tool' to 'chart tool'in word 2007?

I was charting in word 2007. Usually, to continue, I would click on the chart
and a dialog box would appear containing 'edit chart'. When I select this
option, the excel sheet containing the data (numbers) I use for charting
would also appear and I would continue with tmy work. But it just happened
that as I clicked on the chart, the dialogue box that appeared did not
contain 'edit chart' and on the top of the information bar, 'picture tool'
appears instaed of chart tool. Pls help me to reverse to the chart tool so I
can proceed with my work. I have already done volumes of work and cannot
start from the beginning.

Thank you for your assistance

You can't "reverse" the tools -- they're contextually provided based on the
type of object selected. Apparently your chart has somehow been converted to
a picture. There are a few ways it could have happened, but AFAIK none of
them are "by accident" or without warning. I also know of no way to convert
the picture back to a chart object. Your best bet is if you have a bakcup to
revert to.
