Runtime error on opening Outlook - anyone using Norton programmes?

There seem to be a number of us experiencing the Runtime error when
first opening Outlook - Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more
information. The error started on installation of NIS 2004 - my
laptop running v2003 is fine.

If you are having problems can you reply to this post stating whether
you are using any Norton programmes - and if you are the versions.

I have Norton Internet Security 2004 (including Norton Antivirus
Version 10.0.0.109 and Norton Internet Security 7.0.1.11)

My Outlook is 2002 (10.4712.4219)SP-2

I have been in touch with Symantec support who say they can not
reproduce the error.

I have the same problem. I have Norton Internet Security
2004 with Outlook 2003.

I had Outlook 2003 running with Norton IS 2003 and it
worked fine. I think it is a Norton Anti-Spam issue. Of
course I can't get Symantec to even admit the problem.

The work around (restarting Outlook) seems to work but...

We're having the identical problem on one of our computers. Same versions of
Outlook and NIS. The problem began shortly after installing NIS 2004.
Symantec has been utterly unhelpful.

This is a direct quote of the message that solved my problem - it's
just a work around but it's better than Symantec have come up with.

Ken Slovak - [MVP - Outlook]

See if disabling the script stopper in NIS helps. If that doesn't work
then see if disabling the inline email scanning helps.

Same here - Outlook 2002 and NIS 2004.

Definitely started as soon as I installed NIS 2004. Have tried
reinstalling NIS and reinstalling Outlook without any change. C'mon
Symantec - get it together!

I have experienced the same problems shortly after installing NIS2004
(XP pro & office). Did a repair etc - no avail.

I managed to get through to to Symantec and the call centre person
acknowledged that this was a problem related to the AntiSpam component
and that Symantec are working on it(!). This was at the beginning of
Feb!! Still waiting for the live update fix!!
