Sabotage
What is sabotage?
My old dictionary states that it is as an act of malicious
damage or destruction, as one intended to obstruct the production of war
material by the enemy.
Then the subject of computers enters the picture. I believe
that in 1998 the United States Government with all its lawmakers and
politicians knew that China had the computer technology that could destroy
the United States' technology. It was a simply question as to how that
technology would be delivered to the unsuspecting common people for simple
usage.
I assume that every person in the United States remembered the
poisoned cough syrup. Oh, let me work my memory. I think that it was about
15 years ago. I remember seeing it on television. Yes, it was only once,
and I've heard it said that the blame was placed on the non-English speaking
user. Just because the United States people have forgotten about the
poisoned cough syrup, doesn't mean that the dead child disappeared from the
family's hearts.
September 16, 2005, I decided to purchase a new laptop. I can't
email my friends and family a virus, knowing that my computer has one.
First I drove to the mall and then to Circuit City. The store was
out-of-business. I did some grocery shopping, then stopped at a second
computer store. The store had two computers on sale today. There wasn't a
salesperson around when a second handsome, dark-haired stranger spoke with
me. He explained the difference between the two computers. The stranger
even had a little clippie thing that he placed into the computer. The small
silver clip contained his downloads, so that he didn't have to go onto the
Internet for virus and worm fixes. Immediately, I thought that I wanted
this machine and one of those silver clippie things. My question was should
I buy the computer today or tomorrow.
I thanked the nice man. He turned to walk away with a limp.
"Hey," I thought to myself, "I'm on a roll. I'm buying this puppy-computer
today!"
