Same problem

I got a similar problem. We are running Windows XP SP2, with Office 2007 on a Windows 2003 domain. The problem arises with more then 30 computers and or user accounts. It's appearing randomly or so it seems.

Our problem is the following: When Powerpoint 2007 is started it looks like it won't start, but in the taskmanager you see it's running. When you kill te process, and Powerpoint is opend a second time it start normaly. The eventviewer is not generating any messages about Powerpoint.

Our users are using .ppt and .pptx Powerpoint extensions. There are being opend by double clicking on them and sometimes also by first starting Powerpoint and then, Office Button | File | Open. The files are on network locations, usb sticks and local desktop. The problem arises with all these different ways, we can't exclude one or another.

It is starting to get very troublesome for our users, so any toughts would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,
Daniel Severin

I have been using Office '07 on XP fine for years, but we have a (fairl
new, @ 4 months old) laptop with Vista Home Premium SP2 and Powerpoint will no
open when double-clicking an existing PP file. PP opens, as in the process i
running in Task Manager, but the application itself does not show/open

PP will open via Start > Programs, so I initially ruled it down to the PP'
that I was trying to open from other locations (i.e., the PP folder we hav
on the laptop) not being in the "Trusted Locations" in the Trust Center. So
I added the folder and its subfolders which works until you reboot. I hav
tried adding even the subfolders separately but none work after a reboot

What am I missing, please? Thanks in advance
