Security update for Outlook 2003 vs. AOL IM

I installed the Office 2003 Basic Edition Security Updates available 8-14-07
(Office, Excel & Outlook) and rebooted. Following installation I can no
longer open Outlook. Message: "MAPI32.DLL has been corrupted. Probably due
to installation of other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook." I
do run AOL's instant messenger. I removed the Outlook update through Add &
Remove Programs, but no change. I do not have the original Office CD as this
is a hand-me-down laptop, but I do have the Office product ID number. Is
there a download that will restore my Outlook application?

find and rename the mapi dll and see if it repairs itself. If not, try
detect and repair (help menu) - if that fails you will need to get the CDs
from the person who handed it down to you.

Anything you like. Most people simply change the file extension to ".old"
