Seperating User Views in Portfolio Analyzer

Question: What is the best way to manage this scenario with
permissions/categories.

We have different department groups (with PMs, Directors) that want to see
project roll up information in Portfolio Analyzer; however, they don't want
others to see their information. I know how to create a Portfolio Analyzer
view that restricts what projects they'll see (through Protection in the
pivot table), but I need to also isolate each group of individuals for their
own views. The only way I can see that is to create a separate category for
each "department group" and assign the known users into their own category.

Is this correct and the simplest way to do this (trying to minimize heavy
maintenance)? And am I missing any additional tasks?

I believe you are correct, each specific view has to be associated to a
specific category in order to keep it separated for each department group.
