Server exception 9446

I have a user with a server exception 9446. I understand that the solution
is to save the version we wish to keep as an mpp file, delete all existing
versions from the system, and then import the project back to the Enterprise.
BUT this project is linked to several other sub projects in one huge
project. Deleting the project will break all of those links. Is there any
way to correct this without deleting the project.

Microsoft lists an available Hotfix for this issue at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885851/en-us

Have you attempted to obtain and instal the Hotfix and then perform the
followup steps listed at the above page? That would sure be simpler than
trying to recreate all the links in the master project. If you must delete
the project, then I would recommend you manually record a list of all
inter-project dependencies between this project and those in the master
project, and only then delete the project from the Project Server database.
Hope this helps.
