Set up Project Template as default

Hi,

I have a Project template that I created with several columns that do
not come standard in Project. I used Organizer to add those columns to
the GLOBAL file but I still have to add those columns manually every
time I open a new file or project. Is there anyway to make my template
the default template so that the columns will already by visible when
Project is opened? Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I'm assuming when you say you created several columns, what you actually
did is set up some custom fields, and that stored those custom fields in
the global.mpt file.

As long as you open project with *that* global.mpt file, they should be
there in the global.mpt file and the blank starter file. They won't be
visible, by default.

To make them visible, you need to put those fields into a Table. you can
add them to an existing Table, or create your own (Menu: View/Table/More
Tables...). You also have to have that Table you created in a view
(Menu: View/More Views).

Then, just display that View ... which puts that Table which has your
fields, onto the screen.

Remember when you edit or create Views and Tables, to copy them back to
the global.mpt file using Organizer, just like you did with Custom
Fields. That way they are in the global.mpt file for re-use for all
those times you use that global.mpt file.
