Shared borders, navigation and hit counters disappear

My web looks fine in Frontpage 2003, and all works well in browser preview
except for the hit counters which won't display, when I publish the page
shared borders, and navigation buttons disappear, the body text repeats
itself about
4 times in different spaces, the hit counters won't display, I've never had
this problem before, my ISP keeps assuring me that there is nothing wrong
with the server extensions and when I posted him the pages he put it up for
me but it still doesn't work quite right and if I try to publish any changes
it goes completely wrong again. I've reinstalled FrontPage in case it had
become corrupted - still the same, don't know what to do next, can anyone
help. The html looks completely different on the published site to my local
site.

I've been experiencing exactly the same problem. I don't have a solution
(yet) I'm afraid, but I have discovered that (for me at least) it depends on
the size of the border HTML file. See my posting 'Page content duplicated in
shared borders' for more information (and hopefully a solution from someone
at some time).

Best Regards, Phil

Most likely the extensions are not installed, or are broken.

Posting the URL to the website here will aid in troubleshooting.

Hi, thanks for the replies. The web site which I need to work on is:
www.stroud-pregnancy-helpline.org.uk It looks as if it is partially working
because my web host has put the pages on for me after I e-mailed them to him,
he is telling me that the server extensions are fine as he can post the
pages, if I try to change anything on the site myself it messes up badly
again. I have published the same site to another address hosted by the same
ISP with the same problem: www.bournespring.co.uk so that you can see what
happens. This has been going on for weeks and my ISP doesn't seem to
understand why I am reluctant to send him all of my changes. He also takes
several days to answer my e-mails.

Hi Stephan, I've just done as you suggested on the copy site:
www.bournespring.co.uk and it made no difference.
I don't want to do anything on the www.stroud-pregnancy-helpline.org.uk/
site untill I can get it right on the copy site as anything I do messes it up
again and I will have to get my ISP to reset it again for me.
Thanks Fi.

IMO, you're wasting time working on the mirror site if that's not the real
site, personally I'd spend time fixing the real site.
Recalculating the hyperlinks on the real site shouldn't hurt anything...try
what Stefan recommended.

Also, on your contact page...don't use Java hover buttons, most people don't
have JVM installed on their machines so the effect will not work - they'll
just see a gray/grey box.

Hi Rob, I did as you and Stephan suggested and the site has messed up again.

I was looking at another similar question from Phil Steer and he replaced
his shared borders with dynamic web pages, is this somethig I should look at?

Thanks Fi

Hi again, I did a crash course on DWT yesterday, published and everything
works except the hit counters which I have also given up on and found a good
range of free ones to easily install on http://www.freeweblogger.com/. Thanks
to you all for your help. Fi

Yer welcome
Yes...DWT mucho more better than shared borders.
Glad you gave up on the hit counter as well, it's worthless and noobish

:)
