Joann: Same problem. Have been running Word 2000 for years and now trying to
run the 2003 update. I guess you're saying to uninstall Word 2000 and then
run the update? If so, how do I make sure I don't lose any of my Word setup
files, etc? Thanks.

Do you mean you're trying to install the 2003 upgrade?

Which edition of Office did you buy? Standard, Pro, etc.

:

The .cab file is indicative of Office 2003 Standard (retail).
Uninstall
all
trial versions and any incomplete installations, then try again.

I have XP and a Word 2000 CD. That's what I installed. I don't believe I have Office installed because I only use Word and Excel. Now I'm trying to install Office 2003 (SP3) so I can upgrade Word 2000 to 2003. This is when I get that error msg.

Hi Escritor,

An Office service pack only works on an already installed matching base product to correct issues with that specific product. You
won't be able to achieve an upgrade from an Office 2000 product to an Office 2003 product via a service pack, that would be a
purchased upgrade to a new product (i.e. an Office 2003, or Word 2003 product CD).

The sku112.cab is one of a series of product identifiers that would be on an Office 2003 product CD, in this case the Office 2003
Standard Edition full retail product CD.

If you have Excel, the chances are quite high that you have Office. Look in
Add/Remove Programs - what do you see as it relates to Office?
