SP-3 office update caused word not to function on Vista

[Installing SP-3 on Vista operating sys]

When I installed Service Pack-3 on my computer with XP operating system, I
did not have problem. However, when I did the same thing on my computer with
Vista
operating system, 'Word" did not come up but "Excel" worked fine.
I could not bring up "Word". It kept saying "not responding".It was working
fine before I did the update.
