Speeding up Excel 2003

I'm running a large 250 mb spreadsheet and it runs slow. I have a duo
processor with 4gigs of ram. Have Window Vista Home Premium v6. Is there a
better Vista OS that would make my duo processor run Excel 2003?

I would be surprised if a workbook that size does anything but crawl on
any machine. Especially if you have a lot of formulas.

What are you storing that takes up /250 mb/? Excel might not be the
right tool for the job.

Excel is the right tool and it mostly made up of formulas. I have 2 due 64
processors and I thought some versions of Vista work better with dual 64
processor? Is that true?

I'm sure there a lot of "it depends" conditions here, but you seem to
have a lot of horsepower anyway, more so than many.

You could take a look this site. There are good articles on optimizing
Excel performance. It's really interesting, but rather heady:

Best of luck.
