Spell Checker

I have Microsoft Word 2007 through the Academic Alliance (Got it for free
just had to pay shipping) I get it through my school. Anyways the spell
checker in Word 2007 isn't working. Grammar checker is sort of working but
picking up weird errors. The settings are talking about French settings even
though the dictionary and what not is set to English US dictionary but it
isn't picking up any of the misspelled words. Any ideas, hints or
suggestions. At this point anything will help.

Thank you.

Go to Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools,
Microsoft Office Language Settings. Remove all languages from the right hand
column except English (US) and ensure that English (US) is set as the
default.

Then open Word. Use Ctrl+A to SelectAll. Go to the Reviewing ribbon and
select Set Language in the Proofing Group. Make sure that English (US) is
selected and that the two check boxes at the bottom are UNchecked: then
press DEFAULT. Close Word and make sure to answer YES to save changes to the
global template.
