Spelling/grammar error notification in Word for Mac 2004

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Is there a way to set up Word so that a sound will indicate an error as you are typing?

Word is already set up that way, it will already alert you with a "bong!" if
you hit an illegal keystroke.

But it cannot alert you if what you type is not true, or not what you
wanted, because it cannot know what you wanted to say :)

And if it were to alert me for every spelling and grammar mistayke I made,
it would never shut up! So it won't do that either :)

Cheers

Hi, John -

Thanks for your reply. Can Word be set-up to issue the "bong!" you mention when a word is misspelled? If so, how do I set it up?

Thanks!

Hello Artanis;

To reiterate John's statement, No, there is no setting in Word for an
audible alert when a spelling error or typo is made. You may be able to
configure something through the Universal Access features in OS X System
Preferences but I'm not very familiar with it.

As far as I know, there is no method, or at least no simple one, to do this
in System Preferences.
