Spotlight search inside Entourage

Morning.

The inbuilt search engine of Entourage is -- excuse me, but -- a
jurassic tool. Not comparable to Spotlight. Why Microsoft did not
implement the Spotlight search engine into Entourage?

What do you think: Will Microsoft implement Spotlight into versions of
Entourage to come?

This is the most missed feature for ex Mail.app users like me I think.

Hi,

one thing to consider is that when Microsoft Office 2004 came out, the
latest version of Mac OS X, 10.3, or Panther, was only only out for roughly
six months. So at that time, Spotlight was not available as a technology
which could have been implemented into Entourage. At the same time, I'm not
sure if it can be that easily implemented because of Entourage's use of a
monolithic database.

Is Microsoft going to build Spotlight into Entourage in Office 12? Nobody
knows, except the MacBU, and they haven't made any announcements so far. I
can imagine that internal Spotlight searches have been requested quite
often, but it doesn't do any harm to tell them yourself; request that
feature by clicking on Help>Send Feedback on Entourage.

Is Microsoft going to build Spotlight into Entourage in Office 12?

You'll also have to remember that Spotlight is a MacOS X 10.4-only
feature. You can't use it in previous versions of the System so any app
entirely relying on Spotlight for its searches would not be compatible
with previous versions of the System,
