Strange Behaivor

Dear;
my manager asked me to upgrade his office to office 2007. I upgraded his
office from office 2003 to 2007. when i opened his outlook 2007, I got all
setting and profile as 2003. he sent me an email with read receipt to make
sure his outlook works fine. I got his message and I opened his email. he got
a read notification.
after 10 Minutes he called me that he is still receiving the read
notification from me. he sent another email to another user and got same
issue. he is receiving a hundered of read receipt.
I asked him to send me another email without read receipt. i got his email
and replied him. sddenlly, he called me that he is still receive the same
email i replied him.
i check the exchange 2003 serverto track the messages, I found only one
message sent from me to him. same thing for the read receipt.
his mailbox get increasing and I can't find the solution.
I thought it's a virus but nothing found.
I created a new profile for him and every thing seems working fine.

can you help me to find the cause of this issue?

You found it already; create a new profile. It is highly recommended after
an upgrade.
I suspect that a mail scanning tool like your virus scanner wasn't aware
that you changed your version of Outlook and produced these unexpected
results. I've seen it happen dozen of times.
