Strange problem downloading messages from Comcast POP3 server toOutlook 2003

For several weeks, I have had strange problem with using Outlook 2003
on laptop running XP Home edition and IE 6.0. ISP is Comcast and
messages appear in their webmail. When I do Send/Receive in Outlook,
not all of the messages download. Later in the day, I can do a Send/
Receive and a message that was listed in webmail in the morning but
didn't come down will now show up in the Outlook Inbox.

Even more strange. With my wireless router and the physical set up of
the house, the highspeed connection isn't very fast and I can watch
the messages populate the inbox list, one at a time. Several times a
day, a message header will hit the inbox and then will be "lifted"
right back out. It has also been removed from the webmail inbox. It is
not in either delete box, nor spam, infected, or any other
identifiable place. I can identify no common characteristics. Some are
commercial vendors , some are personal friends, no attachments, no
graphics, no excess size.

I confirmed that there weren't any rules in play. I also confirmed
that there were no Views issues. I had previously eliminated any of my
own spam filters so the only things in play are the baseline Comcast
and and Firewall/Spyware/AV barriers. It isn't related to the sender
because I'll get emails the same day from a sender whom I saw fly into
the ether earlier or later. The disappearing emails go within a second
of hitting the inbox, before they can be read, perhaps it is "Refresh"
process as the next message is downloaded, but not because I read it.

The Outlook Delete box is set to be emptied manually, but the Webmail
delete box is set to empty when Outlook gets emptied.

Thanks for helping with the wierd.
