Hello,

I just loaded my 2nd license from my Office:mac 2008 for Students.
This was put onto a new macbook, so all files and installation is clean.

When I checked for updates, it does find that I need SP1 Update. It does download it, but then gets stuck

"Installing Office 2008 SP! Update (12.1.0)"
"Running AutoUpdate Installer script"

I have tried rebooting. I have tried redoing all this several times and it gets stuck at the same spot.

Please help! This is incredibly frustrating.

Thank you!

There could be a hidden window asking you to quit all Microsoft
applications. If you log out/in holding down Shift key when logging in, THEN
run the installer, does it work now?

I was stuck with this for the past months, I gave up at some point, but here is the answer:
As office is installing, the "check for updates" was open (the little green clock), CLOSE IT and the update will run fast and smooth.
