Sync with Hotmail

Hi there.

Entourage is synced with my Hotmail account and is my default email client when I click to send an email.

However, when I open Hotmail and go to my Sent Items folder I can see that the mail has been sent but 'Unknown' appears in the Sender column. Why doesn't my username or email address appear? How can I change it so my name appears in the Sender field?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Are these messages that were in your Hotmail account before you
connected with Entourage? If so, then Hotmail is probably not providing
that information to Entourage.

Also, are you aware that you'll soon need to switch to POP for Hotmail
to continue using Entourage?

Hi Bill,

These are emails that I write in Entourage on a day-to-day basis and yet when I check in my Hotmail 'Sent' folder they appear as 'Unknown' in the Sender field.

I would rather the recipients of my mails receive them from my name/email address than view my messages as 'Unknown'.

At present, I can view my Hotmail Inbox and all associated folders in Entourage. Am I right in understanding that in the future I will only be able to see my Inbox and no longer be able to work with other folders? That's really disappointing.

Check these:

Entourage uses your "me" contact in the Address Book. Be sure your name is
entered.

Tools> Accounts
Edit your account there and make sure you enter your full name

really disappointing.

Entourage has allowed Hotmail to be downloaded as a web account. This is
like IMAP. They are doing away with this and you will need to set it up as
POP. POP downloads mail and deleted it from the server. If you want mail
left on the server for different computers/locations, I would get a Gmail
IMAP account.

You can set a POP account to leave on server, but you don't get the
sent,drafts etc folders.
