system restore does not restore

I cannot do a system restoration from system restore, what can I do?
I have Dell computer with windows xp

Joe, This is a Microsoft Access forum. Try posting on the Windows forum.

You may have to use the system restore CD/DVD that came with your Dell;
However this will wipe out any files and settings that you previously had.
