when I open publisher 2000 the background is a shade of dark green and the
page is a bright green. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling/repair
anyone any ideas please as I cannot view any of the colours properly. It does
print properly but the colour scheme is purely guess work. No other programs
are affected

In Publisher, tools, options, clear "Improve screen and printer matching." The
article says check the appearance, control panel, display folder, appearance tab.
Might look at the "Accessibility settings" in the control panel, make sure "high
contrast" isn't enabled.
Display drivers are related to your graphic's card, go to the manufacturer's web site
and look for a newer drive.
Office 2000 updates are here:

Many thanks, that has sort of solved the problem. At least I can now see the
colours but everytime I close publiser it reverts back to green. Anyway that
I can save the defaults that I want.

Did you try finding an updated video driver? What graphics card do you have?
