Unread mail filter in Outlook Web Access

Dear Outlook Gurus,

One of our staff members who uses Outlook Web Access (for Exchange Server
2003) to access her emails at work, prefers to use the "unread messages" mail
filter at the top of the screen (Next to Inbox) to view only new incoming
emails. However, she has commented that it sometimes shows no new mail, but
when she removes the filter there are new emails sitting there. It happens
sporadically and she wonders why this is?

Any thoughts on how this could be resolved? (Note: If this should have
been better posted to the Exchange discussion group - could you please
provide instructions on how to get there?)
