Updates (e.g. 11.3.9) Cannot Find Proper Version To Update

I wish Microsoft would release a comprehensive/cumulative update for Office 2004. Having gone from 11.3.5 to 11.3.8 incrementally, the 11.3.9 update cannot "find" the files to update. (Yes, I have deleted the auto-update preferences.) So, I'm stuck at 11.3.8, even though there is 11.3.9, 11.4.0, and 11.4.1 waiting to install. Why do these updates each have to be applied one at a time, sequentially? Other software companies management to have more intelligent updaters. Any solution to getting 11.3.9 to "see/find" 11.38 and update it?

I wish Microsoft would release a comprehensive/cumulative update for Office
2004. Having gone from 11.3.5 to 11.3.8 incrementally, the 11.3.9 update
cannot "find" the files to update. (Yes, I have deleted the auto-update
preferences.) So, I'm stuck at 11.3.8, even though there is 11.3.9, 11.4.0,
and 11.4.1 waiting to install. Why do these updates each have to be applied
one at a time, sequentially? Other software companies management to have more
intelligent updaters. Any solution to getting 11.3.9 to "see/find" 11.38 and

Try applying the combo updater to see if will fix your problem. Usually the
incremental updaters are combined into a combo, but Office 2004 has not been
optimized in quite a while.

If I remember correctly 11.3.9 and later are not much more than security
updates.

WHY USE COMBO:
You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again
rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Several users have reported this fixed some odd
problems they were having with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the
same version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update (This update delivers several improvements for
both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
