I am doing network and video encoder rack elevations. I would like to create
custom Visio shapes from photographs of the equipment. Custom shapes look
exactly like the specific configuration, showing the blades and how they are
used, rather than generic boxes. I want to take pictures of the rear of the
equipment to ID occupied slots, specific cards, slots, where and how they
connect. Plain, full view front and rear images are difficult to find at the
vendor’s sites. Instead, angled and artfully lit images adorn their web
pages. Other images may have copyright protection. Custom shapes can have
connection points added where they are required.
Bitmap images pasted from an application like Paint disappear when
Autorecovery runs (every 10 minutes)! Yet they remain when the drawing is
saved normally. Is there a way to accomplish this?
