using project for process mapping

Hi - i know this is probably the wrong forum but has anybody used project
for process mapping with any success or is there a process mapping s/w that
can allow insertion/deletion of tasks with the "map" auto adjusting
accordingly.

There is a market for this ( software guys can i have a % of the sales for
the idea please) - visio, arris etc all require a lot of non added value time
as this involves cutting and dragging etc.

regards

I can't imagine this being a good fit. If you're going to link tasks,
Project is going to force CPM on you, and I think this will hinder you
enormously. I know there are other programs, like Visio, to do this. If you
don't like those, start studying your Visual C!

Hope this helps in your world.

Hi,

YThe problem is not CPM, to the contrary;, that is why you would do it.
The problem is that in process descriptions there will often be lots of
conditional bypasses and conditional re-do's and that's not Project at all.
But for a straightforward process: all fine!

Thanks to all, Jim we do use Aris and mind manager, but i am thinking outside
of the box again. With both of the two above, none conform to the "work
study" type process symbols hence the value of creating a s/w for merging
project and process together ( as this will give tasks, delays, resources,
etc) then if you could produce a process map using this data in some
instances there could be massive operational savings. maybe im wrong but who
knows.

regards to all thanks for your inputs
