Visio 2007 not recognizing all stencils

S

Scott Johnson

I have just installed Visio 2007 and I'm having problems getting Visio to
recognize stencils from any other stencils I have if they are anything other
than the basic stencils included in the Visio package. I have been using
Visio for about six years or so now and I have many files (and stencils) from
previous versions, however when I open those files many of the icons are not
displayed.
I can open the same file on different PC I have that is running Visio 2003
and I will see all of the individual stencils/icons, however even if I save
that file as an older version and then reopen the file on my other PC in
Visio 2007, I get the same results....NOTHING SHOWS UP!
I have many older stencils (many custom made) and while I can open and view
the stencil in Visio 2007 in the stencil preview box, however when I try to
add one of the stencils/icons to one of my drawings, the icon won't display.
I just get an outlined empty box.
The same thing happens when people send me Visio diagrams, if they are using
custom stencils nothing displays when I open the files.
This is driving me nuts.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Scott
