visio mind-map from network diagram

R

riaan

I have a large Network diagram (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) built in
Microsoft Visio 2003. Would like to convert it to some sort of mind-map so I
can navigate the diagram similar to a mind-map. e.g. Click on a router to
bring it to focus (zoom in) & put it in the center of the screen to see
exactly what all it's connected to.

Is this supported in Visio 2003? If not, is there anything that could do it
(e.g where I can import my visio diagram & create a mind map of it?

thanks

Not a Visio add-in, but Topicscape is a 3D mindmapping program that
provides the centering function you mentioned, and we have one user
who said he was using it for network management. Have a look here
http://www.topicscape.com if that sounds promising.

When putting a plug for your product, please identify that it is your
product and you have a bias.

If you read my post properly you will see that your comment is quite
unnecessary.
First, I wrote "_we have one user_ who said he was using it for
network management".
What could that mean but that it is our product?
Second, as I'm sure we both know, email addresses are visible in
Usenet goups, and my email address shows the origin as topicscape.com.

Furthermore my comment was not biased, but a simple statement of fact
that answered riaan's question:
- it does have the centering function;
- we do have a user using it for network management.

You are promoting a non Visio product, which is off topic to this newsgroup.
I am here to help with technical issues, I do not want waste time reminding
people how to behave. I tried to tactful, but I do not consider the email
address or "we have one user" as being an adequate indicator that you have a
monetary interest in the product you mentioned.

As someone who receives a pay cheque from the company, your opinion is
biased.

As to UseNet and emails, you can place anything as an email address and
UseNet will not mind. If you check mine, you will find mine is bogus. This
is only to avoid having my real email address being harvested by a newsgroup
crawler. It is relatively easy to find my actual email address.

Please let me get back to answering technical questions.

There are so many things wrong with your post I hardly know where to
begin.

These newsgroups are provided by Microsoft for peer to peer discussion on
specific topics.

From where I am it looks as if its provided by Google.
You are promoting a non Visio product, Which is off topic to this newsgroup.

No, I was answering a question "If not, is there anything that could
do it".

Perhaps the originator should not have asked such an "off-topic"
question. ;-)
I am here to help with technical issues, I do not want waste time reminding
people how to behave.

Your choice.
I tried to tactful, but I do not consider the email
address or "we have one user" as being an adequate indicator that you havea
monetary interest in the product you mentioned.

And yet, from it you in fact did work out exactly that. As I knew
anyone would. I think the readers of this group may be more
intelligent than you apparently think.
As someone who receives a pay cheque from the company, your opinion is
biased.

I did not give an opinion, I stated two facts. That's why I said your
remark about bias was unnecessary.
As to UseNet and emails, you can place anything as an email address and
UseNet will not mind.

Naturally, but my point was that I was not hiding that I work for
Topicscape.
