Vista/Office 2007 May updates -- not all "needed"?

So, this might be one of those "it's just me" thing, but...

Ran Windows Update today on my Vista/Office 2007 box. There were 10
updates, but only 8 installed (2 of the office updates were "not
needed" after running the install...)

Thought that was weird, but I saw it on two Vista machines. The *XP*
machines running Office 2007? Installed all the updates for Windows
and Office.

So I uninstalled Office 2007 and reinstalled it from DVD.

After doing that, there were 7 Office updates in Windows Update -- 3
"security" updates and 4 "updates for..."

I run those 7 updates -- 4 get installed, 3 are "not needed".

Anybody else seeing anything similar?

Yes, I seen it too in my system. It depends on what updates is not needed
which is maybe included as fix in another Office update.
Example: Word 2007 update is a non-security update and if Microsoft Update
installed Office 2007 update that includes fixes of Word 2007 updates, then
it will say not needed after the successful installation.

You can try to compare the fixed version # though and if you think you are
not using the supposedly correct version after the update, you can manually
download and install manually.
