Web Pages In Publisher 2003

I have created some basic web pages in Publisher 2003 - just a plain
background with a communal masthead and text only content - well OK there are
some text box borders and some text formatting - but no pictures etc.

The problem is, the pages can only be viewed in Internet Explorer - if
anyone tries to view them in firefox or opera they only see the text on the
index page and not the masthead, nor the links to the other pages.

How can I make the pages viewable in other browsers please? Notably, Firefox
and Opera

Thanks

Steve,

Some people have no problems with their Pub 2003 generated sites being
viewed in FireFox and other browsers, and some don't.

Here are some things to do that might help. I would suggest that as you take
these steps, then Publish to the Web, to a folder on your hard drive,
perhaps your desktop, where you can find the files easily. Then open FireFox
and browse to the *.*htm files and open them to test.

First of all make sure you are using the Publish to the Web, instead of File
Save As a web page.

Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and untick "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG..." and test your output.

Then try switching the default Encoding from what ever it is to Unicode
(UTF8), Western European (ISO), and Western European (Windows), and test
your output each time.

Hopefully one of those steps will make a difference, and then you should
plan on either reducing and optimizing your images with a third party image
editing program before you insert them, and/or compressing the images.

pages":

Your images are oversized and take a long time to load even in IE...

Thank you Daiviid for the prompt reply, it is appreciated.

I shall try the suggestions you have made and report back here as to the
results (for the benefit of anyone else who may be experiencing the same
challenges)

Best Wishes

I have similar problems when people view my web site with Netscape, FireFox
and Opera. I really hope they fixed this problem for the next version of
Publisher.

I get this alert message when using the navagation bar

421 unable to setup secure anonomous FTP

Try the steps I suggested, and republish your site.

I doubt if your alert error message has anything to do with the limited
cross browser support. It sounds more like your navbar has some other
problem. Post the URL of your website, and we will take a look at it for
this error, and perhaps some design changes you might make that would make
it more cross browser friendly.

Hello David;

Here is my web site.

www.precisiondraftingllc.com

I also have a problem with my master page showing up with certain browsers
and the page layout gets all out of whack.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my web site.

Thanks for the clue. The problem is most likely your use of a master page. A
nice feature for a print document that doesn't play well when converted to
HTML and you end up with unpredictable results. Everything seemed to work
alright in IE, but the pages did not render correctly in FireFox. Sorry, but
you probably need to get rid of the master pages.

I liked your site though. Good job.

Thanks for the tip and the compliment on my web site.
I will get rid of the master page and paste it into every page.
