Weird End User Agreement POP UP??

J

Hello,
After 7 years no incident successfully using my OFFICE 2000 Profession
product, (purchased 2 licenses on brand new computers including certificate
of Authenticity and software hard copies on CD's with the Microsoft
Halographic Trademark)

Yesterday suddenly NONE of my Office products will work. Instead a popup
screen appears. In the heading it reads; "You must accept the End User
License Agreement (EULA) to use this software. If you don't accept, this
application will quit. " After that there is a 7 page single space agreement
that I must agree to.

The problem is that I am worried it is a virus of somekind. Has anyone
experienced this before? Why would an end user license agreement be popping
up now? I have tried system restore, un installing and RE installing office
all to no avail.
Can anyone tell me if this End User License agreement is Legit? If so I
have no problem accepting. But I am cautious because I run a home business
and have my business files on my computer, if this is a virus, I am worried
as to what it will do.

I have Virus Protection that is up to date, and 2 days ago caught a trojan
virus and healed it. Might this be related?
Any help or thoughts would certainly be appreciated!
Sincerely,
joshua j

It is very likely that the End User Licensing Agreement popup is legitimate,
particularly if the pop-up appears immediately after you start an Office
program and clicking "Don't Agree" prevents Office from starting. Your
description sounds exactly like an Office EULA.

Your antivirus program might have made a change that caused the End User
Licensing Agreement to appear. For example, the antivirus program might have
downloaded and installed a new patch for Office.

If the EULA dialog keeps appearing after you accept it once, then the
solution in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884202/en-us might be correct.
