What do I do?

Computer: iMac G4 by Macintosh (June, 2003 purchase)
Running System: OS 10.2.6

Additional info:
Microsoft Office X
Appleworks 6.2.5

Problem:
I'm attempting to create a document using either of the
above (See additional info)applications. My favorite
application for this is the Appleworks 6.2.5 however. I
find that I have only about 12-15 font choices available
(in either application) for formatting the text instead of
the numerous choices available (many of which I need to
use) in the library folders.

Question: What do I do to get both of these applications
to recognize the additional fonts in the library folders?

The problem might be that your library folder contains Unicode fonts
that WOrd cannot use... IOn this case there is nothing you can do to
change that. I don;t quite know about AppleWorks, but it might be the
same problem...

AppleWorks will display many unicode fonts in the Font menu, and will use an
of the characters whose unicode numbers fall within a certain range, but any
characters whose numbers fall outside the range will not be usable. There
are also whole categories of fonts that will not display in AW's font menu,
like Hebrew and Arabic fonts. Also, certain TTF fonts don't display.

I believe that any font which is WorldScript savvy from the pre-OSX Mac will
work.
