What is the meaning of "Proportional to original picture" check bo

Hi everybody,

When I'm on a picture in Microsoft Word, I can right-click on it and
choose to access to the picture format dialog box. In this dialog box,
there's a tab with may tabpages, and in one of these tabpages, I can modify
the height and the width of the picture. In this tabpage, there is a check
box to have the new picture proportional to the original picture. I don't
understand the functionality of this check box (I understand the
functionality of the check box which is above and which allows to maintain
the same report height/width)

Please, can I have explanations on the function of this check box ?

Thanks.

In English it's "Relative to original picture size." I take this to mean
that the percentage shown above are relative to the original size, so that
if you change the percentage, you're changing it relative to the original
size as opposed to the current size of the picture. In some applications,
current picture size is always shown as 100%, and any change you make is
relative to that, which I find very confusing if I've made a picture 40% of
the original size and now want to make it 39% or 41% instead.
