Why always 'Saving the AutoRecovery file postponed for Normal'

Why do I get a persistent pop up message 'saving the AutoRecovery file is
postponed for Normal' that freezes my page until cancelled, and how do I stop
the problem?

Perhaps you could try to remove your normal.dot (or normal.dotm) file. It may
be corrupt. It may also be saved in a read-only place - in that case you may
have to look at your template paths and change them.
