I've got MS office 2007 Ultimate 2007, i bought it from itsnotcheating.com
which is a legal site. my problem is with the bibliography feature in word.
most of the "buttons" are greyed out. why? is it because the style button
(also greyed out) says missing? how do i fix it?

thanks in advance

Yes, the facts you quoted are related.

Look in the folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Bibliography\Style

There should be 10 files there, such as APA.xsl and Chicago.xsl, each
one corresponding to a bibliography style. There should also be a
folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Bibliography\Sort
with four files, plus two more .xsl files in the Bibliography folder.

If any or all of this is missing, the installation wasn't completed
correctly.

To try repairing the installation, click the Office button, click Word
Options at the bottom of the menu, select the Resources tab, and click
the Diagnose button.

Not that I know of. In fact, to my knowledge the Microsoft web site is
the only place where you can legitimately download Office, and that's
only for the trial version. You certainly can't download pieces of
Office, and the installation isn't merely a matter of copying files --
there's a lot of configuration that goes on in the registry at the
same time.

any advice would be welcome.

also it is a legitimate site, microsoft has this page on it

Thanks for the link. Microsoft's sales arrangements vary widely by country,
by region, and by market segment, and I wasn't aware of that one.

My suggestion -- and it's only that -- would be first to try reinstalling
from the download you have. If that doesn't help, contact itsnotcheating.com
and ask for assistance. The web page says that you can get a CD instead of a
download, and requesting that would be a good next step. If you still don't
have a complete installation at that point, contact Microsoft's Australian
office and, if necessary, ask them to escalate the issue to Product Support
Services in the US.

Hi Jay,

FWIW, the http://itsnotcheating.com.au is actually a MS Australia managed website <g>
http://microsoft.com/australia/education/unistudentoffer/default.mspx

(slightly different result without the ".au" on the end <g>
