Why can't I change the margins?

I'm working on a document that has several sections. All of the sections
have the same page setup, except for one. Whenever I try to change the
margins and position of the headers and footers in that section, I get this
message:

"Settings you chose for the left and right margins, column spacing, or
paragraph indents are too large for the page width in some sections."

I don't understand that message because there isn't anything in the document
that is too big for a page, and I am not using any columns or indents that
are larger than they are in the sections that have the page setup I want.

Does anyone know a trick to get this to work the way I want? Thanks!

Go to Format | Columns and click on the box for One (even if it appears to
be selected already).
