why does it take so long to open files

I am running a laptop with an intel core 2 duo T7700 with 4 gig of Ram, but
it still takes a long time to open files in MS Word or Excel or PowerPoint.

In PowerPoint moving large pictures around in a presentation is painfully
slow. I figured that having 4gig of Ram would fix the problem, but it did
nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Do you have any mapped network drives that show as disconnected? If yes,
either connect the drive or unmap them.

Hello Milly,

Thanks for trying to help.

To answer your question, no, I do not have any network drives mapped. This
problem started when I switched from Office 2003 to Office 2007. It was an
instant characteristic of the upgrade and a problem that I have never been
able to fix.
