will office 2004 and/or v.X run under Snow Leopard w/ Rosetta?

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

Have a client with PPC Macs running Mac OS 10.4.11 and Office 2004 or Office v.X. Now looking to buy new iMacs with Snow Leopard. Will the older versions of office run under snow leopard or does client NEED to upgrade to Office 2008?

If Office 2008 needs to be installed is it difficult to install 2008 on new iMac once Apple's migration assistant has been run to x-fer data and older Microsoft identities from old PPC iMacs?

- thanks in advance

There are some issues with the older versions of Office, but nothing
significant. However, I would recommend upgrading for all the improvements
in Office 2008 UNLESS they use VBA.

If they don't need Exchange, you can get the Home & Student version very
reasonably. $126.99

There are some problems upgrading Office X Entourage messages. You can
export the data then import into Office 2008 if Office 2008 does not import.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

since the client is using a mixture of word/entourage v.x and student teacher 2004 (they didn't know they could buy student/teacher when they first started) will they be able to maintain their v.x or 2004 databases even though they will be using 2008 student teacher? I assume this will require a manual configuration. Correct?

Using Office X and Office 2004 is a strange combination.

Updating older databases are pretty generic. The only functionality that is
part of Entourage 2008 is exchange support that's missing where it was
included before.

Yes, I work with clients doing instruction and database recovery and
upgrades. I'll contact you off list with my info.
