Windows 7 Word 2003 Problem Saving/Opening files

Original Problem: When I attempt to save a WORD 2003 file, I got a message
saying basically I don't have enough RAM or HDD space. I have 2.5 GB RAM and
approx. 50 GB HDD space available. I ran the troubleshooter and approved the
fix.

Now it allows me to save a file, but when I retrieve it, I get a message
saying "There was a problem sending the command to the program" and retrieves
a blank file.

Everything works ok if I use the "Run As Administrator" option, retrieving
the file properly.

To add to my original post, I did do the repair using my original CD/DVD, but
it was no help.

Could anybody help me with this problem? I have my wife using a cumbersome
work-around to make Word usable at all. Is this a DLL problem?

Thanks for your reply. I did all that applied to my problem. Renaming the "
normal.dot " file to " normal.old " seems to have helped. The main problem I
have now is: Since I ran the troubleshooter and let it do the 'repair', I get
an error that says " There was a problem sending the command to the program
". Can you help me reverse whatever the trobleshooter did?
