Windows Installer runs when opening Access 2002

I have MS Office Pro which includes Access 2002. I have just begun having a
problem where every time I run Access, Windows Installer has to run. I get
the message "Wait while windows configures Microsoft XP Professional". I have
uninstalled and then reinstalled Access but the problem persists. Access
eventually opens. No other Office programs have the problem (Word, Excel or
PowerPoint). Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I am glad to hear someone else has this problem!! I have about 100
users running Office 2003 pro, and about 10 users have this problem. I
have already rebuilt half of them, but with more and more cropping up,
I figure there has to be an easy explanation for it??? maybe a recent
windows patch??? I have tried the windows installer cleaner as well as
uninstalling/reinstalling. I have tried the registry fix that
Microsoft list for the problem with Office 2000, however, the keys are
different so obviously it didn't help. I've recreated the windows
profile, doesn't matter if the user is an administrator or not....
HELP!

I also have the same issue. I have tried using the Windows installer cleanup
utility and unistalled the installer, reinstallled Office Pro, tried to
install as administrator, all to no avail. If anyone has other suggestions
please post. Thanks.

One possible solution might be to logon as Administrator then run
start up Access. This may then correct the problem for regular
users.
