won't come close to aligning business cards right

I have some business cards I designed in 2003 and always printed on my
Photosmart printer using Avery Clean Edge Business Card paper. I have
Publisher 2007 now and it won't even come close to aligning them correctly
on the page to print.

I've measured the margins, changed every setting I can find, and nothing
works. I even tried downloading and installing Avery's own designing program
but it won't install under Vista.

I also tried printing them with Word 2007 and using Avery Template 8371, but
doesn't seem to let me design the card, use background pictures, or even
align or place text that I can tell.

Am I screwed, or is there some procedure for getting this working right that
I don't know about? All help will be greatly appreciated.

You probably tried the following but...
what if you open one business card...
3.5" x 2" I suspect.

Now...go to...File / Print Setup /
Multiple copies per sheet...

And...here's a tutorial:

Create your own business cards in Publisher

(scroll down to: Print business cards on a desktop printer)

Yep, I tried that, but thanks for the tutorial link. I'll check that out to
see if it helps. :)

I appreciate your time and effort. :)

FWIW...there's a possibility that you
need to update your printer driver.
I think I would check the HP site and
see what's available for Vista.

Select all, right-click, save as picture, there are resolution and extension
choices. Use the HP software to print out the business cards.

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. I don't have HP software though. But maybe
I can download Avery design software if they've upgraded it for Vista by
now. I'll check. Thanks.
