Bob, thank you. I asked the wrong question. I just loaded Vista OS +
Office. In Word 2007 when I click OPEN and get a list of existing files;
when I click on a file name I am unable to see a preview of the document. I
have activated the option; but nothing appears. Now I must say that it did
work once.
Thanks for your ideas.

I too have this same unanswered question; Word2003 when opening a document
you have the option of VIEWING previews of your documents before committing
to an OPEN. This seems to have been removed from WORD2007 and/or VISTA in
General due to security risks???.

Is this the case? Only asked as I have searched all contact sensitive help,
Microsoft.com, all Office Newsgroups with no clear answer HOW, WHY or WHEN.

Please say it isn't so,

I have about given up. I loved this function of previewing. I have hundreds
of files with pictures that I get confused sorting. It was so nice to get
the preview. It is so important to me that I'm considering going back to
2003. Is there no help on this issue, it seems simple enough to allow. I'll
risk it in Word.

Thanks for any help:)

In Word 2007 there is a setting of:
Office Button=>Prepare=>Properties
then Document Properties=>Advanced Properties=>Summary
and [x] 'save preview picture'.

However, in Vista the Office Button(File)=>Open option may not have a 'preview' view, but it should have a [x] Save Thumbnails
checkbox
that should add the preview pix for Word document files.

Is that setting not working for you?
