word 2002 slow to open and freezes

I am running OfficePro XP on a Windows 2000 Pro. Word 2002
has been working fine. Nothing else installed lately.
Recently when opening Word opens very slowly, but will open
After typing for a few seconds, it freezes. After about 10
seconds it begins again. Slow to close also. Renamed
normal.dot, renamed toolbar.dot(only one in the Startup)
Tried opening with winword.exe /a, Did a repair and fix.
Deleted the registry key, Data in the applications/word
file. Have Norton Antivirus but have been running this all
along. Can anyone else suggest something???

If you have the Norton Antivirus Plug-in for Office, disable it. Don't
assume that it can't be the cause just because it predates the
problem.
