Word 2003 - Windows installer error 1610 - config data corrupt

I have a user that rec's a windows installer 1610 error when opening word.
It says that the configuration data is corrupt, contact support. I did a
detect and repair and that did not resolve the issue.

I got this error after installed Adobe 6.0 Std. Before that, I had errors
because Adobe 5.0 did not play nice with Word 2003, but the error was due to
some kind of Adobe compatibility issue with Word 2003. I thought that 6.0
was compatible with 2003.

Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? My next step is to do an
uninstall/reinstall. The KB has nothing about this error other than an
article listing out ALL of the installer error messages with nothing other
than a description of the error.

Thanks!

If anyone cares to know it was a configuration issue with Adobe. This was on
Adobe Std version 6. If you do Add Remove programs - find Adobe - change -
deselect the options for MS Office/Outlook etc. Turn that stuff off/make
unavailable and go through the rest of the wizard it will resolve the issue.

The error also stated that it could not open up the template, and I noticed
that a pdfmaker.dot or something of the like was listed under the templates.
I tried delecting them in Word, but it would not resolve the issue. Only
after I turned off the MS Office stuff in Adobe did it reslove the error.
