working with Pocket PC .pxl files

I tried my first spreadsheet on my iPAQ Pocket PC. That
went just fine - a use for the toy that wasn't
Solitaire! When I uploaded it to my laptop, Excel
(Office 2000) wouldn't recognize it. I updated Office
with most current patches, but still no good.
Ideas?

My pocket PC came with a program i loaded into my PC to import files
which i choose to translate to .xl
