Wrong number format after exporting from sharepoint list

Hello everyone,

At the moment I am facing a problem that might be solved easily, but I
don't get any more ideas. Perhaps someone here had already faced it.
One of our users is trying to export a sharepoint list to Excel (MS
Office Professional Edition 2003). Whilst looking at the list in
sharepoint, there is no issue with the currencies and numbers. After
exporting it to Excel, numbers and currencies are being messed up.
Have a look here >>> http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/6910/problemedwk8.jpg
Several times the number null is added to the original amount, e.g.
instead of have a net price of 412,00 it displays
412.000.000.000.000,00; instead of have 1 room night it shows it as
100.000.000.000.000 room nights and so forth.
This happens only at this specific client desktop. On others it is
pretty fine and exporting the same list is no problem at all.
Everything is displayed correctly. So I am pretty sure it is an issue
with that client desktop and it's (Excel) settings.

I did the following in order to resolve:
+ I opened the regional and language settings and checked for the
number and currency specifications - everything ok there
+ I repaired office with its assistant from the setup CD
+ I installed any additional feature which might be necessary to
interact with sharepoint and so forth
+ I reinstalled entire MS Office and deleted the remaining Excel
configuration files before from the user's folder (C:\Documents and
Settings\%user%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office)

Nothing worked out. Since I have also other duties in the company I
lack a bit of time for researching for hours. Any help or suggestions
are welcome since this getting a small pain ;).

The system used runs:
- Windows XP Pro SP3
- MS Office Professional edition 2003 SP3
- Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11
- interacts with WSS 2.0 11.0.8173.0

Thanks in advance.
