xy scatter with date/time as x axis

I have an XY Scatter chart with date/time values along the x axis.

For example, 5/1/07 8:00 am, 5/1/07 2:00 pm and 5/2/07 10:00 am.
I want an XY Scatter to properly show the time increments. Is there a way to
have the x axis only display the actual dates and times rather than showing
values of equal increments? I have gone into the axis options and have
adjusted the scale but it is difficult to know the exact times. Or do I need
to resort to data labels or textboxes?

Thank you!

XY charts always show equal increment tics on the axis
You could have no x-axis labels and use either data labels or text boxes as
you suggested

I use Rob Bovey's XY Chart Labeler.

I set up a dummy column of values equal to the minimum price of graphed Y
values, every 10th row or so down the dummy column to spread out the dates
across the bottom of the graph. The values will all be equal and at the
bottom of the Y range of values.

I then calculate (High Y-Low Y)/200 in a separate column next to the dummy
column, then use those values for error bars to give the labels chart tick
markings of just about the right scaling for my tastes.

Finally, with the dummy series in place, I select it with Bovey's XY Chart
Labeler and append whatever labels I choose.

It works great, looks authentic and even works well with my real-time
charting efforts.

Best of luck! Brad
