I have tried to install Office 2008 via CD and by downloading the free trial, but I keep getting the message "You cannot install Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac on this volume. This software requires Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or higher." However, I have Mac OS X version 10.5.2!!!!

I have tried to install Office 2008 via CD and by downloading the free trial,
but I keep getting the message "You cannot install Microsoft Office 2008 for
Mac on this volume. This software requires Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or higher."
However, I have Mac OS X version 10.5.2!!!!

Why would you try the download version if the DVD didn't work? Where did you
get the DVD?

I suggest downloading the Apple combo 10.5.8 and installing it. Restart
twice after running the combo. Now try to install with all applications
quit.

Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update (For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )

See this page for help installing and updating. Updating correctly is
IMPOTANT!
