Trying to install office 2003 over office xp have tried both as a upgrade
and as a new install and neither work the install gets part way through and
then complains that it can't find YS561401.CAB . I have gone into the CD and
looked for myself and it's right there but it's not being picked up for some
reason, I haven't come upon any fixes that actually do the job so is there
somewhere or something I can do to solve this problem? Or do I have a nice
expensive coaster?:S

Thanks

Just to update this post I have via going into the cd files and running the
alternative method of installation discussed here been able to install
Outlook and Word although I had to disable some of their options due to the
fact that the install would lock up. Does anyone have any info on how to fix
this issue? Anyone at all? Don't be afraid to speak up:D

I found this on another forum, might work for you.

Try running setup by double clicking PRO11.MSI or right click
it and choose "install" menu. Not sure why this problem occurs, but I
suspect it's
due to another wizard/wrapper that launches with regular setup and
asks to
click "finish" after installation is finished.

Hi

Yes this working somewhat in that I was able to install outlook but I had
to disable many of the extra features and when trying to install Word it
keeps hanging on a .ttf file... Anyone know of a work around for this? At
least I have mail up and running now but I would like to use the full suite..

Thanks again

Hi there,

Don't know if you have resolved this issue yet, so apologise if yo
have. I have this exact same problem, and I have noticed that if
attempt to install Office 2003 from my DVD ROM as oppossed to my C
ROM, it reads certain files and not others, but it certainly seems t
struggle with CAB files. Anyway it always comes up asking for th
location of the file YS561401.CAB, so then I realise what I have done
I move the CD from the DVD ROM to the CD ROM change the Drive letter i
the pop up message box that is asking for the location of the file an
hit enter, and the installation continues. So if you are using a DV
ROM, I suggest you change it to the CD ROM.

Hope this helps!

I know how old this is, but for anyone that may run across this forum posting,
in explorer
Tools > Folder Options...
make sure to check the radio button for show hidden files and folders, then put in the installation path again. This worked for me and allowed the setup to find all the cab files that are set to be hidden.
