10.1.4 problems

Joe Popp

I upgraded from 10.1.2, everything seemed to go okay. Entourage started up
fine, but then I tried to open a message (via the preview pane) that was
HTML format and included images. Entourage crashed. I can replicate this
every single time I try to open this type of message.

I tried to re-install the 10.1.2 update, but it tells me that I don't need
the update.

Any ideas? Should I re-install the whole office suite?

Thanks.

I'm having the same problems - whenever I try to open any html entourage
crashes. To make matters worse internet explorer crashes whenever I try to
open it. Is there any way to throw out prefs in os x or some equivalent?

It would be extremely tedious to try to re-install office x from scratch as
the install disks are many removes from 10.1.4

Yes, you'll find the prefs in the current user's Library/Preferences folder,
and you can trash them, just like in the good old days :)

But first, you might try and Repair the Permissions. This is new in OS X,
and is something to be done first when problems arise, and should be done
after each install of software. Have you done this after upgrading?

It is sometimes the only way out to perform a new install from the CD (don't
forget to use the "Remove Office Tool" to uninstall - and don't forget to
put your templates or Personal Macros Workbook aside, if any)

The scary thing about all this is that it's all AFTER I re-installed office!
Yeah, this is v10.0.0 and it's still doing the same thing as when I first
installed 10.1.4!

Help!!

This information was provided in a post by Gil Gordon [MS]:
Crash viewing HTML mail - If Entourage crashes when viewing HTML, you may have
corrupt preferences. Quit all apps, delete com.apple.internetconfig.plist. If
that doesn't work, delete com.microsoft.explorer.plist.

If you need further help, please check Gil Gordon's post in this group
entitled "Tips for getting Exchange working in the Entourage Exchange
Update" for more tips.
