10.2.8 suddenly dialing constantly

The previously mentioned problem may be related to 10.2.8 dialing
automatically whenever I access an IMAP folder in Entourage.

10.2.6 didn't do this if all my messages were already downloaded, now the
only way to keep Entourage from dialing is if I unplug the laptop. Is there
a way to tell Entourage to operate in Offline mode?

Choose Work Offline in the Entourage menu.

They better fix it in 10.2.9 before they run out of numbers.

Apple has removed Mac OS X 10.2.8 until an update that
resolves this issue can be made available. This update
is expected to be available soon, and this document
will be updated at that time.

Sheesh, this is Apple, I think, not MS...
I guess they'll fix it, eventually,
meanwhile breathe with your mouth shut
BTW the "workarounds" mostly do work

I would expect them to make it available when they've fixed the problem.

It was released prematurely, maybe someone hit the wrong switch in the
database? There was a developers release the Friday prior, and at that
point 10.2.8 was not even gold master.

It's too bad Apple didn't just say "Oops. Mistake made, shouldn't have
been released, please fall back to 10.2.6" but I bet the lawyers
wouldn't let them.

Do an archive and install from your 10.2 CD or DVD, then run the 10.2.6
updater, and reinstall the handful of things that will break. I did.
